summer means summer jobs, and that means a lot of students newly working in the food industry. be it starbucks, mcdonalds, or a local restaurant: do NOT mess with people’s food. giving someone milk when they ask for soy could kill them. giving someone meat when they ask for vegetarian could kill them. giving someone caffeine when they ask for none could kill them. people have deathly allergies and painful reactions and I have absolutely 0 sympathy for anyone who purposely messes with people’s food orders. respect people’s orders regardless of what you think would be a funny “prank” and regardless of how specific someone’s food order is. even if you had a 4 day straight shift if someone orders something specific you either do it or tell them that you cannot.
sick and disabled people should not have to be afraid of being sent to the hospital every time they go out to eat but some of you folks in the food industry really go out of your way to make us feel unsafe.
PS: if someone asks for a straw you fucking give it to them. chances are, most disabled people do not “look” how you think disability is supposed to look and if you refuse someone a straw because you doubt their need for it you are an asshole. disabled people are now being harmed and humiliated by assholes who think they have the right to determine who and who is not “worthy” of a straw.

If someone’s being an asshole and you want to mess with their coffee, just make it decaf /instead/ of caffeinated (unless they asked for decaf in which case please don’t switch it.) One cup of decaf isn’t gonna hurt anybody’s health but it will make their day worse!

If somebody orders diet and you give them regular, you could cause their blood sugar to spike (insulin-dependent diabetics have to know what they’re eating and medication-dependent diabetics have to avoid a lot of sugar).
However, far too many people think it’s okay, especially if the person is a bit overweight, to give somebody diet when they ordered regular.
Aspartame, which is in almost all diet sodas, is a very common migraine trigger. It is actively poisonous to people with phenylketonuria, because they can’t properly process one of the ingredients. It also worsens the side effects of some schizophrenia medications.
If a “fattie” is asking for regular instead of diet and you give them diet you could make them very sick.
Just like the caffeine thing. You don’t ever mess with people’s food like that because you don’t know, you can’t know, and your job is to give people what they order.
It hurt me, when I realized how badly you were fucking over our friendship. When you were doing the things you said you’d never do (lie, abandon, forget). When you lived under my roof, and used me. Because you couldn’t be BOTHERED to try to help us out, and then complained when we got angry.
When my fiancée got angry, you claimed they were just like the one who hurt you last. Without even CONSIDERING why they were angry at you. You just didn’t want to be in trouble.

We tried to make sure you were safe, comfortable, and did our BEST to make sure that you could look for work to the point that, when you broke your laptop screen, we sacrificed our TV for you.
And then you turned around, and began to vanish without telling us anything. Even after promising to tell us because we didn’t want to stay up until 3am waiting for you while we were passing out.
For six months, I sat there in silence, watching you use us, doing the pathetic thing of doing nothing while I KNEW you were using us. Because you were never like this before.
You used to be the friend I could lean on, you used to be the friend that would be there when I needed you, so I did the same.
And you stomped all over me, laughed, then went about your merry way.

And now, I feel nothing but anger when I hear your name, or see you. I feel nothing but betrayal when you still post things about how “happy” you are now.
We gave you everything so that you could be a happier person.
UPDATE (15h10, same day of the attack): a lunch lady for the school, Silmara Cristina Silva de Moraes, was able to gather and lock around 50 teenagers in the dining room during the attack to keep them out of the shooters’ reach. Many workers made barricades out of the fridges and freezers. In a classroom, students were able to hold the door and stop the shooters from getting in.
UPDATE (7h18 March 14th, day after the attack): just as @hexmaniacmareen predicted, someone (congressman Major Olímpio, from Social Liberal Party, same as the president) said “this wouldn’t happen if the teachers had guns”.
Unlike what was previously thought, the shooters were indeed former students in the school until last year; one was 17 and the other 25, and they were neighbours and close friends; they were also neighbours and sometimes worked in the school
The Facebook profile of the younger one, in big part public, were notoriously pro-gun, strongly against the left, and pro-Jair Bolsonaro (the current president). Otherwise, he commented about tv shows, music, videogames, and sports. Right before the attack, he uploaded pictures of himself with the clothes and a gun he used in the attack. The other shooter was not publicly active - only his profile picture (featuring three soldiers), emblems for Germany and Russia, a picture of an AK-47, two images of shooting videogames were public; his cover photo was of a gun the same model he used. Both profiles have been deleted.
The police, who doesn’t know yet how the guns were purchased, is investigating whether the shooters planned their attack in a videogame forum. Brazil’s Vice-President Hamilton Mourão has said “young people are very addicted to violent videogames” and has pointed lack of full-time public schools as an obstacle to parenting;
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, also president’s son, emphasized the younger shooter’s age, implying criticism of Brazil’s age of legal penal responsibility, which is 18. He also claimed the attack as evidence of failure of the country’s Disarmament Statute from 2003;
São Paulo governor João Doria (from Brazilian Social Democracy Party) cancelled his schedule for yesterday and visited the school, saying “it was the saddest scene I’ve ever seen); he reinforced his defense of the age of legal criminal responsibility age to 16;
Right before the shooting happened, Jair Bolsonaro had announced he’s preparing a bill to relax gun laws, and said he only sleeps calm with his gun beside him; after the attack, he sent condolences to the families of the victims and called the attack a immeasurable “monstrosity and cowardice”;
Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, another of the president’s sons, has said a gun “is just as harmful as a car”, advocating “defensive use of guns” and studies about it, pointing out that the Disarmament Statute didn’t reduce homicide, and possibly implying that as due to the criminals’ knowledge that the victim will not be armed. Other deputies from the “bullet caucus” (Congress bloc that defends benefits for cops and military, reduction of penal age, less strict gun laws, etc), such as Major Olímpio and Captain Augusto, also called for relaxing gun carrying laws as a way to prevent an attack like the shooting. On the other hand, president of Congress Rodrigo Maia (from Democrats party), defending gun carrying in situations like the shooting would lead to “barbarianism” and that monopoly on violence should be of the State, and deputies from left-leaning parties such as Workers’ Party and Socialism and Liberty Party defended gun control;
Similarities between the Suzano School Shooting and USA’s Columbine School Shooting from 1999 have been pointed out, generating speculation of a purposeful “copycat”, but that is not yet confirmed;
Douglas Murilo Celestino, 16, described as happy, kind, engaged in school, skate rider, skilled drawer, and soccer player.
Cleiton Ribeiro, 17, described as an avid reader and quiet kid who dreamed of getting into college at first attempt.
Samuel Melquíades, 16, described as having a “heart of gold”, was also a skilled artist, constantly posting fanart of videogame characters on social media. He used to greet his father with a fist bump.
Caio Oliveira, 15, described as kind, loyal, intelligent, and soccer fan. Right after the attack a friend messaged him saying “I’m gonna give you a beating when you get back for making me this worried”.
Kaio Lucas Costa Limeira, 15, described as tranquil and evangelical. A judo fighter, he was an avid sports fan. A picture of him in a duel on social media received a comment by fellow victim Caio Oliveira joking “look at that, he doesn’t even wash his feet”.
Marilena Umezu, 59, was pedagogical coordinator of the school. Described as a mediator between teachers and students, it’s said she was very liked there. In January, she posted on social media “We are in favor of book carrying, because the best weapon to save the citizen is education”.
Eliana Regina de Oliveira Xavier, 38, a school worker, was a sort of handyman, helping control the entry and exit of students, passing errands, and delivering books and materials to the students. Described as very kind and polite.
Jorge Antônio de Moraes, 51, uncle of the youngest shooter, was the first to be killed in the attack, shot in front of his car store near the school. Described by fellow neighbouring commerciants as playful and very nice. He’s survived by his wife and three children. For lack of his picture, a picture of his store.
